When someone falls, time really matters; a quick response often saves prolonged lies and hospital admissions. Coast Medic Ambulance provides a rapid Falls Response Service to help in the event that someone has fallen and needs assistance and a clinical assessment to ensure safe recovery subsequent to a fall.
Our clinicians attend with appropriate equipment to support a safe lift, assess for injury or deterioration and escalate to emergency care where indicated.
Rapid, Clinically-Led Help Following a Fall
A fall can be frightening; especially for older adults, vulnerable people and care home residents. Even when a person appears “uninjured”, prolonged time on the floor can increase risk and anxiety.
Coast Medic’s Falls Response is designed to provide:
- Prompt attendance when a person has fallen
- Clinical assessment (observations and red-flag screening)
- Safe lift assist using suitable manual handling techniques/equipment
- Decision support: remain at home/care setting where appropriate, or transfer/escalate if required
- Clear documentation for families, carers, and providers
Who This Service Is For?
Our Falls Response Service is frequently used by:
- Care homes and residential settings
- Supported living providers
- Families and private individuals
- Local organisations needing dependable clinical attendance
- Healthcare and social care partners seeking overflow capacity and rapid response support
What Happens When We Attend
Every incident is different, but a typical call-out includes:
- Immediate triage on the phone
We gather essential details and advise if emergency services are required. - On-scene clinical assessment
We check for injury indicators, pain, head strike concerns, mobility issues, and other red flags. - Safe assistance from the floor (lift assist)
Using appropriate techniques and equipment, we help the person to a safe position. - Reassessment and aftercare guidance
We confirm whether the person can remain safely in place, needs onward review, or requires transport. - Escalation or transport if needed
If symptoms or risk factors are identified, we can escalate appropriately and—where clinically suitable—provide ambulance transport.
