Cornwall AED Support Fund

Primedic Heartsave Mypad Semi In Hand 1

Over the last decade, we have worked with coastal and rural communities across Cornwall to install more than 60 publicly accessible defibrillators in locations where emergency medical help can be significantly delayed. These lifesaving assets have already been used to save lives, providing immediate treatment in the critical minutes before an ambulance arrives.

However, a defibrillator only saves a life if it is ready to be used — and if people have the confidence to act.

Our Cornwall Public AED Maintenance Fund exists to protect this lifesaving network and ensure that every device remains operational, registered, and trusted by the emergency services. Through this fund, we support local guardians to carry out essential monthly safety checks, keep each defibrillator listed on the national 999 ambulance database, replace electrodes following use, renew batteries as required, and deliver community-based training in the use of defibrillators.

This training is a vital part of the mission. By teaching local residents, volunteers, and young people how to recognise cardiac arrest and use an AED with confidence, we are building tomorrow’s heroes today — people who can step forward and save a life while professional help is on the way.

In isolated coastal and rural areas, these defibrillators are not a luxury; they are often the difference between life and death. By supporting this fund, you are not just maintaining equipment — you are sustaining a county-wide safety net, strengthening community resilience, and helping to save lives now and for generations to come.
